The aim of Timber Construction course is to provide students the ability to analize and design timber structures.
In Timber Construction students will understand the behaviour of wood as construction material: its internal structure, anisotropy, strength, different treatment methods, and timber structural elements behaviour, respectively.
Designing according Eurocode EN 1995.
Sustainable developement of constructions involving timber structural elements.
The fire behaviour of timber is also a discussed issue.
Students should know Strength of Materials as well as design bases of eurocodes.

The teaching and assessment methods are designed to help the students to attain the goals for the course, via theoretical component and practical one, respectively, where the focus is on problem solving.
The Timber Construction course has the main objective that future civil engineers will be able to approach a project, by analysing and designing timber stuctures, presenting in written reports and oral presentation their work.
Written final exam (theory + Exercices): 45% + 25%; and Student performance during classes (communication or direct involvement, homeworks, tests, projects etc.): 30%
