Course aims:

To understand how to implementing an analog/digital signal acquisition in a graphical programming environment
To design a standard hardware/software architecture for industrial DAQ systems
To create standard interfaces for general DAQ systems

Course Entry Requirements:

Fundamentals in Electronics, Fundamentals in Digital Electronic Circuits

Course contents:

Basic architectures od Data Aquisition Systems (DAQ), Signals IO for DAQ, Sampling theory, Conditioning systems for DAQ, Sensors interfacing for DAQ, Interpolation and extrapolations in DAQ analysis , Interpretation of data handled in DAQ systems, DAQ hardware design, Dataloggers, Networked DAQ

Teaching methods:

Lecture, industrial cases studies, exemplification, exercises, simple projects development. Infrastructure: LabVIEW and NI DAQ

Learning outcomes:

Temporal, spectral and statistical characterization of signals; Explanation and interpretation of signal acquisition and processing methods; Design of basic functional blocks for digital signal processing with hardware and software implementation;  Use of simulation media (Matlab/ Labview) for signal analysis and processing; Design of functional blocks elementary digital signal processing with hardware and software implementation; Design of dedicated equipment in the fields of applied electronics, which use: microcontrollers, programmable circuits or computer systems with simple architecture, including related programs

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Oral examination - 10%, Verification during the semester (project development and presentations) - 90%.
