Course aims:

Customization to specific terminology and expressions regarding environmental politics, strategies and institutions;
• Delivering theoretical and methodological basic notions related to environmental politics, strategies and institutions;
• Understanding basics related to environmental politics, strategies and institutions for assuring sustainability of human society.

Course Entry Requirements:

Bachelor in engineering, preferably environmental engineering field

1. Introduction, course aims and objectives 2. General notions concerning politics, strategies and institutions 3. Emphasizing environmental politics 3.1. Environmental politics on company level 3.2. Environmental politics on local level 3.3. Environmental politics on regional level 3.4. Environmental politics on national level 3.5. Environmental politics on European level 3.6. Environmental politics on international level 4. Emphasizing environmental strategies on different levels 5. Emphasizing environmental institutions on different levels 6. Presenting potential roles of environmental institutions on different levels - about the Club of Rome 7. Environmental strategies related to products life cycles 8. Integrated environmental strategies 9. Concluding remarks

Teaching methods:

Giving lectures, presenting real case studies, explaining environmental politics, strategies and institutions, exemplification, applying hands-on methods.

Learning outcomes:

 knowing basic principles of designing and implementing environmental politics and strategies as well as shaping needed environmental institutions;  gaining theoretical and methodological notions with regard to shaping diverse environmental politics and strategies as well as with needed institutions;  good expertise retrieval and systematic knowledge on the basis of deeper insights within analyzing procedures of environmental politics and strategies as well as needed institutions;  basic notions for approaching environmental politics and strategies as well as designing appropriate environmental institutions on different levels.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Oral examination – 50%; presenting prepared case study – 25%; implication in shaping case studies during seminars – 25 %
