Course aims:

Assimilation of a general knowledge of the history of the church music of Byzantine tradition from the Romanian space in general and from the Transylvanian space in particular;
Learning the basics of psaltic and linear musical notation;
Formation of practical skills in church choir singing.

1. General information about Byzantine church music  2. Worship books from the Romanian Orthodox Church. Typical rules 3. Eucharistic ecclesiology 4. The modal framework of religious music 5. The evolution of the text and music associated with the canon Eucharistic

6. Types of Liturgies 7. Eucharistic rites and rituals 8. The first Romanian translations of church songs(early 18th century);  9. The Songs of the Holy Mass I: The Great Litany,

The discipline aims to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on the evolution of music history, musical phenomena and personalities in the field of music.
