Aims
to develop an aptitude for careful theological reflection about worship;
to develop basic skills in worship and conducting liturgical services;
to answer liturgical questions on any general ordination exam as evidenced in tests and papers.
Course contents
1. Introductory course, 2. Liturgical Vestments, 3. Vespers, 4. Matins, 5. The Divine Liturgy: Prothesis, 6. The Divine Liturgy, 7. The Divine Liturgy of Pre-sanctified Gifts.
Learning outcomes
• To give practice abilities to conduct and perform liturgical services in the orthodox rite; • To know the structure of liturgical services and to deal with common and mobile parties of liturgical services.
Assessment
Practical exam – 70%; theoretical examination on commune formulas – 20%; continuous assessment – 10%.
