Course aims:

Knowledge of the basics of urban traffic. Assessing the interdependencies between transport and urban or spatial planning in line with the requirements of sustainable mobility - determining transport demand.
Analysis of options for transport modernization decisions. Identify solutions to improve traffic flow and avoid/limit road congestion in transport networks and terminals.
Knowledge of traffic management techniques. Knowledge of urban traffic optimization techniques.

Course contents:

Introduction on urban traffic.

Urban Traffic I: definitions, traffic elements, traffic signs, parking.

Urban Traffic II: elements of urban traffic theory, Transportation Systems.

Urban traffic III: classification of the operating conditions of car parking lots in urban agglomerations.

Circulation design.

Traffic costs: mobility and external costs. Urban traffic policies and perspectives.

Reshaping mobility in relation to the urban form - requirements from the perspective of sustainable development/ spatial organization with prerequisites for sustainable mobility/ - urban areas sensitive to motorized traffic. 

Urban traffic management. Objectives, methods and means used.

ITS Intelligent Transportation Systems.

Urban agglomeration pollution due to road traffic. Extended energy analysis urban environment - proximate natural environment

Smart city: principles and case studies.

Modeling urban road traffic. Planning strategies and directions.

Location of construction works.

Traffic safety and urban environmental sustainability.
