Course aims:

to develop the concept of being and indicates its report with the history of the dogma;
to identify the biblical and patristic grounds of the concept of the evil’s origin;
to identify the theological implications of the concept of sufferance and love;
to articulate the inter-confessional resemblances and differences regarding the Church;
to develop the report between the freedom of the will and the eternity of the hell.

Course contents:

1. The Being and the Sufferance, 2. The Sufferance as Spirit and Nature, 3. The Meaning of the Being as Sufferance and Love, 4.The Embodiment of God: The Full Experiencing of the Sufferance and of Love, 5. The Love of Christ: The Sacrifice as Being’s Chance, 6. The Existential Knowledge as Being’s Meaning, 7. The Man’s Being: The Divine Image within the Denatured Nature, 8.The Sufferance and the Love: the Condition of the Absolute Being, 9. World’s Creation out of Nothingness, 10.The Evilness as Nonbeing, 11. The Freedom of the Will as Possibility of the Evil, 12.The Relative and the Limit as Possibility of the Evil.

Teaching methods:

Lecture, conversation, exemplification, PowerPoint presentation, video-projections.

Learning outcomes:

To take into account all elements involved (linguistic, socio-cultural, political, religious, etc.), to interpret both in a synchronous and diachronic mode, critical reading skills on bibliographic sources and ability to initiate own research.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written paper-interpretative essay – 10%. Frontal evaluation / Oral exam: 90%
