Course aims:

The object of study of the cartography is the representation of the curved surface of the Earth on a flat surface (map) and the ways of using the maps for different scientific, military, spatial planning, tourist etc.
Specific objectives: - to learn the methods and procedures for representing the elements on the Earth's surface and their evolution over time;
- the study of representation systems.

1. Introduction in cartography 2. Earth shape and mathematical models adopted in cartography 3. Coordinate systems 4. Notions about plans and maps 5. Representation stairs 6. Orientation in space 7. The deformations of the representations in the plane 8. Plane representation systems 9. Cartographic projections 10. Preservation of deformed elements 11. Orthodroma and loxodroma 12. Nomenclature of maps and plans

Instruction is a combination of lectures, conversation and theoretical and practical examples
