7. Deformations in the Mercator projection
8. The Gauss-Krüger projection. Geometric elements of projection. Projection characteristics

Learning outcomes
- to accustom students with terminology, methods, equipment and instruments specific of this discipline;
- to give students the basics concepts needed for knowing the types of cartographic projections, thir geometric elements and mathematical formulas;
- understandingthe types of deformations that appear in cartographic projections;
- understanding of issues they will encounter in their future profession.
Assessment
Written exam – 60%; Portfolio of practical work – 40%.
