- to familiarise students with the use of corpora in linguistic research
-to use concordancing programmes and tools
- to compile and annotate corpora

Types of corpora: according to genre, according to size

C3. Corpus analysis and linguistic theory

C4. Corpus linguistics and lexicography: Introduction, Corpora as a source for lexicography: using data as evidence. Corpus linguistic tools for lexicography

C5 Corpus compilation. Collection strategies and design decisions

C6 Corpus development and corpus annotation

C7 Corpus linguistics and sociolinguistics

C8 Corpora and language learning research

C 9 Procedures uses in corpus linguistics: word lists and concordancing programmes

C 10 Contrastive corpus studies

C11 Learning corpora. Developing corpus-based teaching materials

Learning outcomes:

-to familiarise students with the use of corpora in linguistic research. Students will learn how to use different concordancing programmes, will explore the functionalities of concordancing programmes

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Project-based evaluation + writing a research paper in the field of linguistics which uses corpus linguistics as a method
