Course aims:

1. In-depth knowledge of an area of specialization and, within it, of the theoretical, methodological and practical developments specific to the program
2. Use of specialized knowledge to explain and interpret new situations, in broader contexts associated with the field.
3. Integrated use of the conceptual and methodological apparatus, in conditions of incomplete information, to solve new theoretical and practical problems.

Historiography of the theme. Periods and trends in works dedicated to the Union.

Nationalism in Central and Eastern Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Wilsonian Paradigm. The Central-Eastern European Region at the End of the First World War,

Romanian National Party of Transylvania. Preparation of the National Assembly in Alba Iulia. 

Local national councils and national guards. The church

National Assembly in Alba Iulia. Meeting in the Military Hall. Union Resolution.

The Assembly on Horea's Field. 

Personalities of the Union.

Documents of the Union. Memorials, press and other sources.

Women and the Union of December 1st, 1918.

Nuances from the picture of December 1, 1918: the Spanish flu, the trains, the flags, the songs, the enthusiasm, etc.

Using comparative methods adapted to the context in investigating historical phenomena

Knowledge of the main theoretical issues regarding the history of the union of Transylvania with Romania

Knowledge of the tools necessary for studying national history at the beginning of the 20th century

Learning to correlate data from the specialized bibliography with historical sources

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Minimum performance standard: To pass the course, a minimum grade of 5 is required. Knowledge of essential aspects of the course and answers to simple problems.
