Course contents:

1. Fundamentals of Environmental Chemistry 2. Pollution types and sources. 3. Environmental cycles of elements (oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur) and water. 4. Atmospheric chemistry and Air pollution 5. Soil Chemistry and Pollution 6. Aquatic chemistry and Water pollution

Learning outcomes:

- Familiarize students with the various divisions of the environment - Explain the gaseous components of the environment and the chemistry responsible for the observed variation, processes such as; ozone depletion, greenhouse effect, global warming. - Understanding of the organic and inorganic chemical processes controlling the chemical composition of the aquatic environment and the fate of pollutants in the aquatic environment. - Familiarize students with the main constituents of soils and the way they are formed. Introduce some important characteristics of soils, their classification and the various ways in which soils are polluted.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written test examination - 60%, Verification during the semester (project, practical activities) - 40%.
