Course aims:

Knows the theoretical base of school social work practice.
To provide information about educational policies.
To knows the main areas of social work practice within educational settings: bullying, anti-social behaviour, trauma and crisis intervention, social relationships, cultural and ethnic differences, family poverty, family violence, child abuse and neglect, school dropout, disability, attendance, cur
To form abilities for designing interventions in school.

Course contents:

Theoretical base of school social work practice Educational policies Prevention and reduction of school dropout. School maladjustment: causes and typologies. Knowledge and skills base of school social work practice. Common issues in the context of school social work practice: personal, social and emotional development, family issues, schooling issues.

Teaching methods:

Lecture, conversation, exemplification.

Learning outcomes:

• Understand and explain the theoretical isssues of school social work practice • Makes a comprehensive assessment of the student’s learning and other environments. • Knows and can apply in practice social protection measures in schools • Design intervention for reduction of school dropout, • Can explain the school social work service. • To realize an appropriate school social work assessment and intervention

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written paper –– 60%; project assessment – 40%.
