Course aims:

Knowledge of the main concepts in the IT area and use of different types efficiency-oriented computer applications (including online) office activity, research, translation.
Acquiring basic knowledge about IT concepts necessary for professional activity in the field.
Learning to use correctly a computer systems, efficient creation of complex documents and correct understanding of storage mechanisms and concepts / data recording, filtering and analysis.
Training and development of the ability to understand modern information technology used in current practice.

  • Computing systems - elementary concepts

  • Using your computer

  • Internet: set up your personal email account, Microsoft Outlook presentation, Teams Platform, Online search techniques, search for trust sources, search for information of interest, use of a wiki system, translation sites (for translation specialized works)

  • Document Processing - Microsoft Word Text Editor

  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program
  • Creating academic presentations - Microsoft Power Point

Presentation, discussions, demonstrations, exemplification, suggested exercises, homework

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge of the basic components of a PC and of the Internet and of the principles of creation and formatting a document. 

Ability to create

- a document - medium complexity.

- an academic presentation in Microsoft Power Point - medium complexity.

Ability to send an email and find information on the Internet.

Troubleshooting in Excel (using simple functions, inserting charts, etc.) - medium level.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

On-the-go verification: creating an academic paper on a given topic in Microsoft Office Word and an academic presentation in Power Point based on the same topic.
