Course aims:

Development of interpersonal and group communication skills
Knowledge of communication models, psychological, cognitive and social implications in the interaction process, communication styles, communication barriers, efficient communication conditions.
Experience of collaboration and cooperation in the context of teamwork.

Course contents:

1.Theories of communication - from the cyber model to the new sciences of communication. Elements of defining the interpersonal communication - analysis of the communication situation. 2. The role of the interlocutors in the communication act - psychological, cognitive and social variables. Communication styles. Self-image. 3. Interaction - Interaction attitudes and behaviors. Barriers and sources of disruption in communication. Effective communication 4. Communication within the group. Group structure. Group rules and member compliance. Cohesion and conflict within the group, negotiation of roles. Leadership and roles within the group. 5. Cooperation and competition in the group. Development of the group in the direction of team building. Leadership in groups - decision and performance. 6. Group communication networks. Methods to optimize interactions and relationships within the group. Organizational culture. ASSESSMENT.

Learning outcomes:

Communication skills allow students to intervene and participate systematically and intelligently in social and professional life. Assertive communication, flexible and adaptive communication behavior, team cooperation experience are real premises for integration into organizational structures.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Knowledge of theoretical concepts and their practical application in: identifying and evaluating communication situations; choosing the correct form and content of the message according to the purpose and context of the communication.
