Course aims:

Fostering students' mastery of English and French / Romanian Listening and Speaking Skills
Familiarizing students with note-taking techniques and memory training exercises
Developing students' critical thinking, synthesis, and paraphrasing skills
Enriching students' vocabulary for specific purposes

Course Entry Requirements:

The students need to know English as a first language and Romanian or French as a second language

2.2.1 Initial discussion of norms

2.2.3 A discussion on norms in conference interpreting today

2.3 A cultural turn: Power and ideology

2.4 Norms and ethics

3. Speed, memory and simultaneity: Speech processing under unusual constraints

 4. The semantic and pragmatic structure of discourse 

5. Simultaneous interpreting as communicative interaction

6. Participation framework and interactional politeness in corpus (Stance, voice, face)

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

-EVALUATION: At the end of the term, each student will interpret simultaneously / consecutively two different 2-minute long speeches, one from English into Romanian/French and another from Romanian/ French into English
