Course aims:

Understanding the process of assessing the anthropogenic impact on the environment.
Apply methods and practical procedures for assessing the impact of different economic activities on environmental factors (matrices, checklists, cost-benefit analysis, etc.)
Graphical representation of the impact.

Course contents:

Project content - Report on the environmental impact assessment study: 1. General information 2. Technological processes 3. Waste generation, waste management, waste disposal and recycling. 4. Impact on environmental components and measures to reduce it. Description and analysis of the potential impact due to both the construction period and the operation period of the project, describe and analyze the potential impact due to the periods of closure, restoration and post-closure, analyze any significant impact (direct, indirect) , cumulative, permanent, temporary, reversible, irreversible, positive or negative by indicating the methods of impact forecasting and evaluation for each environmental component: water resources, atmosphere, soil, biodiversity, landscape, social and economic environment, cultural and ethnic conditions, cultural heritage, etc. 5. Analysis of alternatives 6. Monitoring 7. Risk situations 8. Description of difficulties 9. Non-technical summary

Learning outcomes:

Description and application of concepts, theories and practical / technological / engineering methods for determining the state of environmental quality and environmental impact assessment. Assessing the effects of environmental degradation. Analysis of technological processes and projects in order to reduce the impact on the environment.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Oral examination - project presentation (100% of the final grade).
