Aims

Using concepts specific to the field in order to explain the fundamental phenomena specific to the field;

Application of principles, basic rules for understanding a written / oral or to express in writing/ orally in an appropriate manner, respectively, taking into account all elements involved in the field

Analysis of electronic circuits and systems of low/medium complexity, for the purpose of their design and measurement

Switching voltage regulators;

DC-DC buck converter;

DC-DC inverter converter;

DC-DC boost converter;S

witched-mode power supply with galvanic isolation, flyback type

Switched-mode power supply with galvanic isolation, forward type

Switched-mode power supply with galvanic isolation, push-pull type;

Switched-mode power supply with galvanic isolation, half-bridge;

Control and command circuits in switched-mode power supplies

Advanced design methods for magnetic components

Final Review.

 

Learning outcomes

To know the classic topologies of DC-DC converters; control and command methods; integrated circuits dedicated to linear and switching power supplies;•

To understand the phenomena occurring in switching power supplies;

• To evaluate and optimize suitable converter structures depending on the application;

• To synthesize complex power supply structures.

Assessment

Combined oral and written examination to verify the quality and correctness of information assimilated. (50%+50%).
