Course aims:

The study of intercultural education in order to acquire knowledge, techniques and methods useful for the management of educational and training activities in multicultural contexts.
To know a series of concepts specific to intercultural education. To become familiar with / use the tools and techniques specific to intercultural education.
To know and recognize the diversity of cultures, adopting prosocial behaviors.
To form / develop attitudes and behaviors of understanding, communication and relationships with others, in the context of diversity and interculturality.
To be aware of the importance of intercultural education in the school context in order to manage educational activities. To develop the skills of teamwork and realization of intercultural educational projects.

1. Introduction to intercultural education. Objectives and concepts specific to intercultural education. 2. The dimensions of intercultural education. Principles and values of intercultural education. 3. Multiculturalism and intercultural education. Intercultural education - a tool for cultural dialogue 4. Intercultural communication. Methods and techniques of communication from an intercultural perspective. 5. The culture-personality relationship. Values, attitudes and behaviours. 6. Social identity and culture. 7. Prejudices, stereotypes and discrimination in today's society. 8. The phenomenon of migration and interculturality. 9. Ethnic communities in Romania. Knowledge and recognition of diversity. 10. Individualism and collectivism. 11. Intercultural approaches in education. 12. Analysis and development of intercultural competence. 13. Intercultural education in school. Intercultural curriculum. 14. The pedagogy of diversity. Teacher training for interculturality.

Learning outcomes:

• conducting the teaching and learning process in preschool and primary school • counseling and psycho-pedagogical support for various educational groups • cooperation in interdisciplinary teams in order to carry out programs and projects in education • life-long learning

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written paper – 60%; Continuous assessment – 40%.
