Course aims:

Knowledge of the deontological code across different branches of sport.
Knowing, understanding and a correct using of fundamental ideas concerning concepts specific to discipline.
To develop a deep understanding of ethical principles, deontological values.

Course contents:

Fundamentals of Ethics and Deontology in Sport: General Ethics vs. Professional Ethics; Deontology of the Teacher/Coach; International Models (IOC, UNESCO, Olympic Charter).
Fundamental Values in Physical Education and Sport: Fair Play, Respect, Solidarity; Education through Sport: Equal Opportunities, Social Inclusion.
The Relationship between Sport, Education, and Culture.

Teaching methods:

Lecture, conversation, exemplification.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge of moral, ethical, and administrative competences in the application of deontological norms.

Understanding the ethical and deontological relationships between coach and athlete, referee and coach, referee and athlete, etc.
Awareness of moral and legal responsibilities in connection with sports activities.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written paper – 60%; continuous assessment – 40%.
