Aims

Discuss the historical context of ethics in occupational therapy

Define common terms such as ethics, morality, ethical dilemmas, and ethical principles.

Identify the purpose and functions of the professional Code of Ethics.

Identify the different ethical decision-making models.

Discuss ethical issues that emerge with occupational therapy practice under managed care systems.

Learning outcomes

• Understand and describe the historical context of development of professional ethics in occupational therapy. • Understand and use use correctly common terms such ethics, morality, ethical dilemmas, and ethical principles. • Apply adequately ethical principles in occupational therapy practice. • Solve properly moral dilemmas in occupational therapy practice.

Assessment

Written paper –– 60%; project assessment – 40%.
