Course aims:

This course aims to provide students the abilities to apply the theoretical knowledge in practical activities referring to the banking operations.
Goal of the course is to enable the students to understand the basic concepts of banking operations and the practical aspects of banking transactions.
Students will understand the various operations of a banking operations - retail and corporate banking products, cash operations, deposits, loans etc.

Course contents:

The role of banks in economy - Romania's case. The typology of banking operations. Define banking operation. Explain the various types of accounts, savings, current, loan etc. Describe the types of customers holding the various accounts. Bankers’/Customers’ relationship in the cash operations. Describe the procedures for opening and closing of accounts. Bank services and methods of payments through banking systems and payments instruments. Bank's Liabilities - Customers' deposits. Commercial bank lending/borrowing principles. Banking operations based on electronic instruments - cards, electronic banking, mobile banking etc. Introduction to Banking Risks' Administration. Banking Performance.

Lecture, conversation, exemplification, know-learn-want method.

Learning outcomes:

Students will be able to:  explain the services offered to customers by banks concerning cash operations and payment methods, deposits, cards etc.  apply the principles of borrowing/ lending applied by commercial banks in their decision making  identify and solve problems and make decisions using critical and creative thinking concerning the banking operations  work effectively with others as members of a team, group, organisation and community in the banking area

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Exam – 80%; verification during semester – 20%.
