Course aims:

The knowledge and use in the professional practice of the concepts and theories relevant to the problem of addictions;
Knowledge and use of evaluation tools in addiction recovery activity
Knowledge and use of the tools and methods of intervention in the activity of recovering addicts;
Understanding the role and attributions of the social worker in the multidisciplinary team in the activity of recovering dependents
Knowledge and application of ethical standards in the work of recovering dependent persons.

Course contents:

he concept of addiction / addiction: what is addiction, types and forms of addiction 2. Theoretical models regarding addiction: the medical model of addiction 3. Theoretical models regarding addiction: the model of behavioral disorders 4. Dependence theories: biological theories, psychological theories, sociological theories. 5. The experience of addiction: elements of the experience of addiction, the cycle of addiction, factors that influence addiction: social, cultural, situational, individual and developmental. 5. A model of social intervention with dependent persons: the perspective of social assistance, the stages of change according to Prochaska and Di Clemente's model - interventions of the social worker at each level. 6. Natural recovery in addictions: the concept of natural recovery, research results, natural recovery models, factors that favor natural recovery. 7. Prevention in the community: therapeutic approaches in the community: support groups, prevention programs and support for the reintegration of former dependents into the community. 9. Policies regarding the control of the abusive consumption and the dependence on substances.
