Course aims:

- knowledge of the general data of introduction in the bible study
- familiarizing the student with the basic teachings of the legislative and historical books;
- emphasizing the activity of the principal kings of Judah and Israel until the fall of the Assyrian captivity (721 BC) and the Babylonian captivity (586 BC).

1. Introductory notions. Canonicality and inspiration
Holy Scripture. Integrity
2. The Pentateuch.Generalities.Theories of unity
The Pentateuch.
3. Legislative books. Contents and history of the book
4. The Historical Books (Joshua Navi, Judges, Ruth, 1-4
5. The history of royalty. Kings Saul, David
And Solomon.
6. Poetic didactic books. Historian, author, contents. Important teachings.
7. Prophetic books. Generalities. Historical context and classification of prophets.
8. The book of Isaiah and Jeremiah. Author, contents, teachings
9. The book of Ezekiel and Daniel. Author, table of contents, message and messianic prophecies
10. Small prophecies (Hosea, Amos, Micah, Joel, Avdie and Jonah).
12. Anaginoscomena books, or good to read.

Learning outcomes:


- To remember the most important translations of the Holy Scriptures (Greek, Latin, etc. and in Romanian).
- To define the main characteristics of the legislative books, of the related messianic prophecies.
- To compare the old and the new theory regarding the unity of the Pentateuch.
- To retain the most important kings of Israel and Judah.
