Course aims:

Explain what a conflict really is and how it is formed
Describe different types of conflict that occurs in the workplace
Explain the various consequences of unresolved conflicts.
Explain how to establish a conflict resolution plan.
Describe Positive Communication Techniques that will help eliminate many conflicts from developing.

1. Theoretical and practical aspects of the conflict 2. Mediation: dimensions and defining coordinates 3. The ethical paradigm professional mediator and construction 4. Stages of Mediation 5. Mediator skills and self 6. Negotiation and integrative counseling - efficient solutions to conflict mediation

Lecture, conversation, exemplification.

Learning outcomes:

• develop learn effective therapeutic communication skills used in human services and counseling; • gains interdisciplinary understanding of short and long term consequences of conflicts. • understand the preconditions for conflict transformation, conflict resolution and peace in local as well as in international and global contexts. • analyze the evolution of the conflicts and conflict resolution and gains knowledge of mediation and negotiation.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

Written paper –– 60%; project assessment – 40%.
