Course aims:

Learning about criminological theories,learning of research methods of the criminal phenomenon and anti-criminal practice as well as the identification of problems and challenges in this field.
Acquiring the functions of criminological research.
Problematizing the information obtained.

Course contents:

Criminology and its field of study. The object of criminological research. Crime. The killer. Crime. Victim. Social reaction (Anti-criminal practice). Methods, techniques, purpose and functions of criminological research The main criminological theories. Classical school. Caesare Beccaria. Geographical school. Lyon School. Interpsychological school. Socialist school. Sociological school. Cooperation of states for the prevention of crime and the treatment of delinquents.

Teaching methods:

After the Erasmus students learn from the materials i indicate them, we will talk about and explain the concepts that they don t understand.

Learning outcomes:

Learning about criminological theories, research methods of the criminal phenomenon and anti-criminal practice as well as the identification of problems and challenges in this field. Acquiring the functions of criminological research. Evaluation of a concrete criminological study in terms of the above functions. Problematizing the information obtained from the above evaluation.

Learning outcomes verification and assessment criteria:

A project on a given topic.
